Contact Me!
Lessons are for children 8-17 years old and for adults.
I try not to enroll more than 5 students in a multiple lesson so that everyone gets 'personal' attention.
You must call to make arrangements to start lessons. You can reach me or my machine at: 637-5028.
If there is no answer, page me at: 665-9389.
NEW!
I have recently purchased an extra sewing machine that may be used by students that have no machine. The cost for the use of the machine will be $10 for 8 hours, in addition to your regular class tuition. Since there is only one extra machine, only one student per class may be assigned to it. The machine will be reserved for that student and will last for the duration of their lessons. It will not be available to keep at your house.
First Lesson
For your first 2 hours we will generally go over the use of the machine, threading, the stitches, the equipment, and practice sewing. It is not necessary to have your pattern and fabric all picked out at that time, but if you do, that's great! I can measure you and help guide your selection if you are having difficulty choosing something. Beginners are encouraged to choose something simple to start on. In all the pattern books these types of patterns are labeled "quick and easy", "fast and easy", "make it tonight", etc. Look for patterns that don't have a lot of pieces or details.*** Cotton and cotton-blend woven and knit fabrics are best.(Do not buy knits if your sewing machine doesn't have a zigzag stitch)
Fabric Care
Fabrics should be pre-laundered if possible to avoid shrinkage after you have completed your garment. If you are planning to make something for someone else, we will need their body measurements. Each student works at their own level, so some may accomplish more than others may. The classes are not meant to be a competition.
